About Austin Brown's Aviation Library Austin Brown has been taking photographs since he was a boy, and throughout his career as a commercial airline pilot. Fine art giclée prints of his works are now available here as individually produced high-resolution reproduction prints. Flying European routes for the first ten years, he then lived and worked as a pilot in the Caribbean and West Africa , building up the picture library at the same time. He qualified as a Licentiate of the British Institute of Professional Photography in 1983 and joined the British Association of Picture Libraries and Agencies in 1986. He is also a member of the Picture Research Association and the European picture libraries association CEPIC. In 1989 he left flying to concentrate on The Aviation Picture Library which had become more demanding, and worked on the launch edition of the new Flyer magazine as its chief photographer. Specialising in close formation air-to-air photography, he has flown some one hundred and fifty sorties with a wide range of light aircraft. He also takes air-to-ground photographs of towns and cities, developments and topographical features speculatively and on commission. In 1999 he acquired a very comprehensive archive of aviation prints from the author John Stroud, whose eclectic collection dates back to the very dawn of aviation. He has been published in many countries of the world over the last forty years and held a retrospective exhibition of his work in the Didier Daurat Gallery in the main terminal of Malaga Airport during Easter 2007. His most recent high profile advertising photography was with Bartle Bogle Heggarty on the British Airways 'Clouds' campaign, whch ran worldwide over the last year and became a brand icon.
